Mynt, the company behind the popular e-wallet app GCash, recently announced its plans to introduce an in-app chat feature to enhance security measures. During a presentation, Michelle Fernandez, the Digital Experience head, explained that the chat feature would provide seamless and error-free transactions, making it much easier to send money without the need to type or copy-paste the recipient’s GCash number. If the recipient’s number is saved in the user’s phonebook, the transaction can be made with ease, thus reducing the likelihood of mistakes or missed transactions. In addition, this feature eliminates the need for users to send transaction screenshots, simplifying the process further.

Fernandez highlighted that the chat feature would also benefit merchants, as it would help them avoid scammers. Users can immediately check with the recipient if they have received the money through the chat feature, and receipts can be easily tracked.

Mynt also announced that it would soon release a physical card and Visa card, which would allow users to use their balance for card transactions in over 200 destinations. Furthermore, the company aims to enable Filipinos abroad to register without a local subscriber identity module (SIM) card in the near future.

GCash currently has over 79 million registered users, and the company continues to innovate the platform to improve its services.
