Philippine Navy Chief Visits Troops in West Philippine Sea

Vice Admiral Toribio Adaci Jr., who serves as the Flag Officer in Command of the Philippine Navy (PN), recently paid a visit to Pagasa Island and other outposts located in the Kalayaan Island Group to connect with the personnel deployed there.

As per a statement issued by Navy Lt. Joseph M. Ison, the Public Affairs Office Chief for Naval Forces West, Vice Admiral Adaci Jr. flew to the Kalayaan Island Group on March 19 and interacted with the stationed personnel at Pagasa, Parola, and Likas Islands. Additionally, he inspected the naval stations at Macarascas and Ulugan Bay in Puerto Princesa, Palawan on March 18, and visited the Naval Forces West and 3rd Marine Brigade headquarters in the same city on March 17.

During his visit, Vice Admiral Adaci Jr. also inaugurated the newly constructed administrative and research building at Parola and Likas Islands. The activities at the island stations included talks with the troops and distribution of emergency kits and food supplies.

Navy Commodore Alan M. Javier, the NFW chief, accompanied Vice Admiral Adaci Jr. on his visit to these island stations. In his commendation speech, Vice Admiral Adaci Jr. expressed his appreciation for the efforts of the sailors and marines stationed at the different island stations, as well as the Philippine Navy ships and aircraft in the Kalayaan Island Group, for upholding their duties as Defenders of the Western Frontier.

Furthermore, Vice Admiral Adaci Jr. commended the Western Command, led by Vice Admiral Alberto Carlos, for highlighting the PN’s efforts as a multi-capable naval force that is responsive to the country’s defense and development.
