MANILA – President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. has endorsed the continuance of thoroughly studied infrastructure projects from previous administrations in his vlog released last Saturday, March 18, 2023. The president’s administration has recently sanctioned 194 high-impact infrastructure projects under the “Build Better More” program with an estimated value of PHP9 trillion.

Of these projects, 123 are under the current administration, while 71 are from the previous Rodrigo R. Duterte administration. They were all aimed to resolve flooding, irrigation, digital connectivity, electricity, energy, water supply, and health concerns. President Marcos acknowledged that many infrastructure projects are frequently put on hold during the transfer of power between governments, which must be rectified. He asserted that if the projects are deemed excellent, they must proceed, especially if they include thorough studies and are beneficial to the people.

Marcos also listed seven infrastructure development advantages that his government would continue to foster, including traffic solutions, food security, electricity, climate change, jobs, tourism, and digitalization. He also indicated that these infrastructure projects, such as enhancements to the country’s railway systems, will aid in reducing traffic congestion and making daily commuting more accessible.

Furthermore, these projects, such as the building of more irrigation infrastructure and farm-to-market roads, would help to reduce food prices. President Marcos emphasized that infrastructure projects must be climate change-friendly to ensure that the country is better equipped to cope with disasters. In conclusion, the president emphasized that completing the projects initiated by previous administrations and prioritizing the welfare of the nation is vital to the country’s progress.
